Sports related tourism has established its position as one of the economic drivers in Spain, generating 2.44 billion euros in 2018, 10% up on 2017. The figures are taken from the Annual of Sports-Related Statistics published this week by the Ministry of Culture and Sport.

According to the figures in the Annual, tourists resident in Spain spent 1.03 billion euros on sport-related trips, compared with 957 million in 2017. Sports tourists from abroad spent 1.41 billion euros, compared with 1.26 billion the previous year. This confirms the growing trend of recent years.

In terms of the number of movements, 4.1% of all
trips made for leisure, recreational or holiday purposes by residents in
Spain were chiefly motivated by sport. Arrivals of foreign visitors
amounted to 1.5 million, 2% of all sports trips made.

The number of elite sportsmen and sportswomen increases by 6.5%

The number of sports licences also increased, by
2.8% on the previous year. As a result, the total number of licensed
sportsmen and sportswomen now stands at 3.9 million. Associations
representing 15 sports account for 79.5% of all the sports licences:
football, basketball, hunting, golf, mountaineering and climbing, judo,
handball, athletics, volleyball, tennis, cycling, karate, padel,
swimming and skating. Over half of these licences (53.6%) are held in
four autonomous regions (Andalusia, Catalonia, the Region of Valencia
and the Region of Madrid).

The Annual shows that the number of sports clubs
increased in 2018 to 67,512, a rise of 0.7% on the previous year.  The
number of elite sportspeople also increased, by 6.5% to 4,962. Of these,
3,114 were men (62.8%) and 1,848 were women (37.2%).

Spanish sportsmen and sportswomen won 821 medals
last year at international competitions, compared with 804 in 2017; and
473 Spanish records were broken. Athletics accounts for 22.2% of this
total; sport for the intellectually disabled, 19.2%; sport for the
visually impaired, 16.7%; and swimming, 14.6%.

Sports-related workers have higher than average educational levels

Data from the Annual indicate that in 2018 over
214,000 people worked in jobs linked to the world of sport. This figure
accounts for 1.1% of total jobs. Once more this year, people working in
jobs related to sports had a higher than average educational background.
The proportion of sports-related workers with a higher education
qualification was greater than the national average, at 51.6% compared
with 42.9%.

The number of companies whose main economic
activity is sport rose in Spain to 34,529 at the start of 2018,
accounting for 1% of all companies. The results confirm the growing
trend of recent years. As is the case with companies as a whole, over
half are located in the regions of Andalusia (14.7%), Catalonia (17.3%),
the Region of Valencia (10.4%) and the Region of Madrid (15%).

Spanish people spend an average of 123 euros on sport

Spanish households spent an average of 307.2
euros on sport in 2017, 15% more than in 2016, when the average was 267
euros. The average spending per person grew in 2017 by 15% to 123.4
euros, compared with 107.1 euros in 2016.

Overall, in 2017 Spanish people spent 5.69
billion euros on sport, accounting for 1.1% of total household spending
on goods and services, compared with 4.92 billion in 2016. Recreational
and sports services were the most significant spending item.

Spending per person was above the average in 10
regions: Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia,
the Region of Valencia, the Region of Madrid, the Region of Murcia,
Navarre and the Basque Country.

Increased participation in university and school championships

Data from the Annual show that participation in
the final phases of the Spanish University Championships and the Spanish
School Championships increased by over 350 athletes compared with 2017.

A total of 3,853 sportsmen and sportswomen (56.4%
male and 43.6% female) took part in the university championships and
6,975 (50.8% male and 49.2% female) in the school championships.

The Annual of Sports-Related Statistics includes a
selection of the most relevant sports statistics for 2017/18 to provide
an overview the current situation and trends in the sport sector in
Spain.

The study includes data on sports-related jobs,
teaching and tourism, as well as specific information on aspects such as
sports associations and championships.

Eurasia Review: Switzerland Asks US To Ease Aid Deliveries To Iran

Spread the Knowledge

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis has called on
the United States to facilitate the provision of humanitarian aid to
Iran in a bid to de-escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Cassis
said he hoped the US would allow Iran the payment of food and medicine
through financial transactions, despite economic sanctions imposed in a
row over a nuclear deal last year.

“We want to help ensure that the civilian population, which is suffering under the new sanctions regime, is supplied with basic necessities,” Cassis is quoted in a foreign ministry statement.

He was speaking following official talks with the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, on Sunday.

However, Cassis cautioned that Switzerland’s hands are tied if there is no willingness on either side to agree to talks.

Switzerland
has been representing US interests in Iran for nearly 40 years and is
hoping to take over a similar task with protecting power mandate in
Venezuela.

Cassis also mentioned the importance of a multilateral cooperation within the United Nations.

Missing citizens and trade

For
his part, Pompeo highlighted the role of Switzerland’s good offices as a
neutral country on the world stage and stressed the importance of
securing the return of missing US citizens held in Iranian prisons.

He
assured the US I prepared to engage with Iran without pre-conditions
about its nuclear programme but needs to see the country behaving like
“a normal nation”.

The statement is seen as an attempt by Pompeo
to soften his previous stance after Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani
suggested Tehran was willing to hold talks if Washington showed it
respect.

Both Cassis on Pompeo on Sunday stressed the strong bilateral trade ties and the long tradition of common values between Switzerland and the US.

The
US secretary of state said he was optimistic about the bilateral free
trade agreement and praised the potential business opportunities in
Switzerland notably for the US defence industry.

On Saturday, Pompeo took part in a session of the closed-door Bilderberg conference on Lake Geneva and paid a private visit to the Swiss capital, Bern.

It was the first official visit by an US foreign minister to Switzerland in more than 20 years.

Eurasia Review: Merkel In Harvard: World Must Do All ‘Humanly Possible’ On Climate Change

(EurActiv) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday (30 May) urged the world to do “everything humanly possible” to combat climate change and pledged to do her part.

“Climate change poses a threat to our planet’s natural resources,”
Merkel said in her commencement address delivered at Harvard University
in the United States. “It and the resulting crises are caused by
humans.”

“We can and must do everything humanly possible to truly master this
challenge to humankind,” said Merkel, whose government stands accused of
dragging its feet on reducing carbon emissions.

“It is still possible. However, each and every one of us must play
our part (and), I say this with a measure of self-criticism, get
better,” she added in a speech delivered mainly in German at the
prestigious university.

“I will therefore do everything in my power to ensure that Germany,
my country, will achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2050.”

Merkel received an honorary doctorate in law at Harvard’s 368th commencement.

In a 35-minute speech often interrupted by applause, Merkel — whose
governing coalition was bruised by a poor showing in the European
elections — lauded the benefits of the European Union, transatlantic
cooperation and multilateralism.

Without saying the name of US President Donald Trump, with whom she
has had a difficult relationship at best, the German leader deplored
attacks on free trade, “walls” of any kind and “lies (described) as
truth.”

“We can find good answers even to difficult questions if we always
try to see the world through the eyes of others (…) and if we don’t
always act on our first impulses,” she said.

She urged the graduates never to take democracy or peace for granted.

The 64-year-old Merkel, who has been in office since 2005, also
mentioned in enigmatic terms the end of her time as chancellor. Her term
ends in 2021.

“I believe time and time again we need to be prepared to keep
bringing things to an end in order to feel the magic of new beginnings,”
she said.

“Who knows what life will bring after my time as a politician?” she mused.

“It’s completely open. Only one thing is clear — it will again be something different and something new.”

Eurasia Review: British Airways Resumes Service To Pakistan After Decade-Long Hiatus

(RFE/RL) — British Airways has resumed direct service to Pakistan, more than 10 years after suspending operations due to security fears.

Flight BA261 took off from London’s Heathrow airport on the afternoon
of June 2 and is expected to land at Islamabad International Airport at
7:10 a.m. local time the next day.

Thomas Drew, Britain’s top diplomat to Pakistan, called it a “big day” for Britain and Pakistan.

“@British_Airways first flight on its new direct service to
Islamabad…can look forward to a warm welcome when it lands here
tomorrow,” he tweeted.

British Airways stopped flying to Pakistan in 2008, shortly after a
suicide truck bombing that killed more than 50 people at Islamabad’s
Marriott Hotel.

In December last year, the British carrier announced that it will
return this month with three weekly flights from London’s Heathrow
airport to the Pakistani capital.

The announcement was “a reflection of the great improvements in the
security situation in Pakistan” in the years since, Drew said at the
time.

A little-known militant group claimed responsibility for the
September 2008 devastating attack in Islamabad, but authorities blamed
Al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Pakistan has battled homegrown militancy for nearly 15 years, with tens of thousands of people killed.

Britain is home to more than 1 million residents of Pakistani origin,
making it the largest Pakistani diaspora community in Europe.

Pakistan International Airlines was previously the only carrier with direct flights between the two countries.

Mugger Trump – 11:25 AM 5/28/2019 – Post

Mugger Trump:

#MAGGATrump, #MuggerTrumpf (in #plainEnglish): #MakeGermanyGreatAgain! #Serve your #NewAbwehr #masters, you #TrumpPoodleDog!

Trump The Poodle Dog Serves the New Abwehr and the German Intelligence for his Four Billion Dollars Trump Brand Value Loan from the Deutsche Bank

This Loan was likely sold to the Sberbank and VTB

which means that it was sold to the deal’s guarantors:
Russian-Jewish-Israeli Mob-Oligarchs – TOC

who now possibly own that $4B Contract on his life, just in case.
The US Presidency is the best personal and bankruptcy protection for Donald Trump, and it is also viewed by him as the way out of his personal financial problems.

Look more like a Dignified Pre-Dictator, Trump!

Trump The Grandpa was exiled to America for some unclear yet reasons, faults, or transgressions; and assigned to manage a whorehouse for Abwehr, named The Trump’s Poodle Dig Saloon.

And now the  third generation Trump became The Great American Mugger for the New Abwehr and Germany and their agent, installed as the American President, with a little help from Manafort, Cambridge Analytica, WikiLeaks, Putin, and other New Abwehr agents.

Trump is the Poodle Dog of Deutsche Bank and German Intelligence

So, serve well, Trump The Poodle Dog!
Serve Putin!
Serve Russian Jewish Mafia!
Serve (very likely the Abwehr’s idea, creation, brainchild, and pet project, with all my Love to it) Israel!
Serve your main masters: the German Intelligence and the New Abwehr!
Serve Japan!
Do the Gerhard Schroeder’s bidding and work on reuinification of Korea! The Great Investment Opportunity!
That’s what you were hired for!

Cancel the sanctions on Oligarchs and Russian Banks!
Deripaska had already got his sweet deal and recouped his Trump installation investment.

Earn your keep!
Jump higher!
Bark louder!
Play  tougher!

You are the New Abwehr Agent yourself now, straight fromyour Nazi Daddy’s Hutlerjugend!

MAGGA Trump, Mugger Trumpf (in plain English): Make Germany Great Again! Serve your New Abwehr masters, you Trump Poodle Dog!

Kawasaki stabbing rampage leaves three dead, including schoolgirl and suspect; 17 injured

KAWASAKI – An 11-year-old girl and a 39-year-old man died in a mass stabbing in Kawasaki on Tuesday morning, a rampage that injured an additional 17 people — including 15 elementary school girls and a boy — and saw the attacker turn the knife on himself, police said.
Investigative sources said they had detained a suspect after the rampage, a man in his 50s, who later died of a self-inflicted stab wound to the neck area, they said.
The man was identified as Ryuichi Iwasaki, 51, of Kawasaki’s Aso Ward.
Police identified the victims as Hanako Kuribayashi, 11, a sixth grader from Tama, Tokyo, and Satoshi Oyama, a 39-year-old Foreign Ministry official.
They both suffered deep stab wounds to the neck.
Oyama was the father of a child who was among the children at the scene. His child was not injured. Oyama was also stabbed in the back and shoulders, suggesting he might have been defending some of the children, police sources said.
Kanagawa Prefectural Police officials said many of the victims, who were waiting at a school bus stop in Tama Ward about 250 meters northwest of Noborito Station, are students from Caritas Elementary School, a private Catholic school in the same ward.
They said the suspect, who was wearing glasses, a black shirt and pants, slowly approached the girls and attacked them with knives in both hands.
He assaulted the victims one by one. According to witnesses, some children screamed : “Help me!” and “Dad and Mom, what should I do?”
Authorities said they found two knives at the site that appeared to have been used in the attack. The blades measured 30 cm each, according to police sources.
Police said two more knives were found in what appears to be the suspect’s backpack.
“I heard children scream ‘I’m scared’ and then turned to see a man with knives shouting, ‘I’m gonna kill you,’” said Toshichika Ishii, 57, who was at a park near the site, adding that he saw children falling to the ground.
Police quoted a bus driver who witnessed the assault as saying, “I tried to stop him, but he started stabbing children and others.”
“He then moved dozens of meters away and stabbed his own neck,” the driver said.
Kazuhiro Yoshida, a 60-year-old bus driver for the elementary school, said he got off his bus when he arrived near the scene and saw “pools of blood.”
“A man in dark clothing was lying on the ground and did not move a bit,” Yoshida said.
Many of the victims sustained wounds to the neck, and they may also develop post-traumatic stress disorder, according to hospitals treating them.
A woman in her 40s who lives near the scene said she saw a rescue worker conducting CPR on a girl and “blood flowing from a man in a suit crouching on the ground and forming a pool.”
The scene and its vicinity were cordoned off as investigators collected evidence.
“I heard fire engines coming in the morning and I saw a man lying on the ground bleeding,” a man who lives nearby told public broadcaster NHK. “I saw many elementary school children lying on the ground near a school bus stop. School rucksacks were scattered all over the place.
“There was another man lying on the ground bleeding at a municipal-run bus stop near the school’s bus stop,” the man added.
A local resident, who declined to give his name, said children attending the school lined up for the bus at the site every day.
“If you live in this neighborhood, everybody knows that these kids are there,” the 66-year-old said. “I’ve been in this area for a long time, I cannot believe that somebody targeted this bus and targeted these small children.”
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters that “children’s safety should be protected at any cost.”
Education minister Masahiko Shibayama said at a news conference Tuesday that Abe instructed him to make every possible effort to secure safety at schools and school commuting roads.
Parents arrived at the Catholic private school later in the day to pick their children up as the school and the local education board scrambled to gather information on the attack.
“I heard from the school that my daughter was inside the bus (when the attack took place). I heard she’s fine but I have not been able to meet her yet,” said a father of a first grader.
The rampage was a rare attack in a country with one of the lowest rates of violent crime in the developed world. There was no immediate detail on the motive of the suspect.
Schools in Japan have stepped up safety measures ever since a knife-wielding man, who sought to be sentenced to death, entered an elementary school in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, and killed eight students and wounded 15 others in 2001.
Many schools lock their gates once classes start and security cameras have been introduced. Volunteers and members of parent teacher associations also line the routes leading to schools. But such measures are limited.
“Even if we thoroughly implemented the plan (for preventing crimes), it is difficult to totally prevent them,” said a senior education ministry official.
U.S. President Donald Trump, who was wrapping up a state visit to Japan, offered his “prayers and sympathy” to the victims as he met troops outside Tokyo on the final day of his trip.
Standing aboard a Japanese military ship, he said that “all Americans stand with the people of Japan and grieve for the victims and for their families.”

Kaiser MAGGA Trump – Comment to J. Comey’s op-ed in WP – 6:55 AM 5/29/2019

Kaiser MAGGA Trump

Comment to J. Comey’s op-ed in WP

I think that Comey is correct. It looks like Trump is engaged in (possibly deliberate) hostile, anti-English Speaking Alliance (see his recent anti-UK & anti-Australia remarks about the subjects of “Barr Investigation”, with the Ukraine thrown in, for the good deceptive measure), PROPAGANDA; with overtly and/or covertly expressed “pro-Axis”: pro-Germany and pro-Japan sentiments, and also some pro-Nazi racial hints, from his symbolic perspectives of the USS WASP, and other dubious optics of his Memorial Day 2019 Japan visit. I think humbly, realizing all the seriousness of this statement, that Mr. Trump might be the “unwitting” or “witting” (this has to be determined) agent or asset of the New Abwehr and German Intelligence, which also corresponds, “rhymes well” with his personal, family history and background; and also, of course, with his “special relationship” with the Deutsche Bank. All these assertions and suspicions have to be investigated very thoroughly.
The Russian subversive activity was and is present undoubtedly, as was stated and demonstrated in Mueller Investigations, but it should be viewed and understood in conjunction and in the light of  the not so new, and renewed German-Russian Intelligence and Security Partnership Alliance, so to speak.
The main suspects for the roles of masterminds-culprits, in my humble opinion, appear to be the New Abwehr, German Intelligence, and their high agents: Gerhard Schroeder, Ernst Uhrlau, SPD, Putin, and many, many others; visible and invisible, known and unknown.
If we as the Society and Civilization, do not look into this hypothesis and do not investigate and research it properly, we will commit one of the gravest errors.

James Comey calls Clinton ‘dirt’ tipster Joseph Mifsud a ‘Russian agent’

Former FBI Director James Comey made a bold assertion about the Hillary Clinton “dirt” tipster’s ties to Russia that goes further than what special counsel Robert Mueller said in his report about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
In an op-ed on Tuesday, Comey referred to Joseph Mifsud as an “agent” of Russia.
“In April 2016, that adviser talked to a Russian agent in London, learned that the Russians had obtained ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of emails and that the Russians could assist the Trump campaign through the anonymous release of information damaging to Clinton,” Comey wrote in the Washington Post.
Comey did not name Mifsud, but Mifsud is known as a London-based professor and former Maltese diplomat who has long been suspected of deep ties to Russian intelligence. The original counterintelligence investigation into Trump’s campaign began in July 2016 after Papadopoulos repeated what he heard from Mifsud to Australian diplomat Alexander Downer, who informed the U.S. government.
Mueller repeatedly mentions Mifsud in his 448-page report, released last month with redactions, but does not call Mifsud an agent of Russia. The special counsel does say that Mifsud has “connections to Russia” and noted that he “traveled to Moscow in April 2016” and “met with high-level Russian government officials” while he was there before telling Papadopoulos in London about the Clinton “dirt.”
Mueller wrote that “Mifsud maintained various Russian contacts while living in London,” “offered to introduce Papadopoulos to European leaders and others with contacts to the Russian government,” and worked with two Russian nationals, including Russian International Affairs Council member Ivan Timofeev, to arrange a meeting between the Trump campaign and the Russian government that never came to pass.
Mifsud has been an elusive figure who has stayed out of the spotlight over the course of the 22-month Russia investigation, which found no criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, but in recent weeks he has been subject to renewed scrutiny by GOP investigators who believe he may be tied to Western intelligence.
Rep. Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, says Mifsud likely has links to “U.S., British, and Italian intelligence services” and accused Mueller’s team of deciding to “cherry-pick” information from news reports to portray him as a Russian agent, leaving out that he was described as a Western intelligence asset.
In anticipation of Trump’s trip to the United Kingdom next month, Nunes provided a list of questions to ask Prime Minister Theresa May, which touches on Mifsud. “Describe any communications or relationship, if any, Joseph Mifsud (potentially also known as Joseph di Gabriele) has had with British intelligence and any information the British government possesses about Mifsud’s connection to any other government or intelligence agency,” Nunes wrote to Trump last week.
Nunes also said the FBI has “something to hide” after sending two letters to the Central Intelligence Agency, the FBI, the National Security Agency, and the State Department asking for all documents they have on Mifsud, and all but the bureau cooperated.

4.10.19 – Remarks by President Trump Before Marine One Departure

South Lawn
9:28 A.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT:  The economy is doing very, very well.  We have numbers coming from companies that are beyond expectation.  The tax cuts are working very, very well.  So we’re very proud of the economy.  Job numbers are as good as we’ve ever had, and more people are working right now than ever worked in our country before.  We’re doing really well.
I’d like to congratulate Bibi Netanyahu.  It looks like that race has been won by him.  It may be a little early, but I’m hearing he’s won it and won it in good fashion.  So, he’s been a great ally and he’s a friend.  I’d like to congratulate him.  That was a well fought-out race, I can tell you.  But it looks like Bibi has won that race.
Go ahead, Steve.
Q    Are you going to release the Middle East Peace Plan now?
THE PRESIDENT:  Say it?
Q    Are you going to release the Middle East Peace Plan now?
THE PRESIDENT:  So, the fact that Bibi won, I think we’ll see some pretty good action in terms of peace.  Look, everyone said — and I never made it a promise — but everybody said you can’t have peace in the Middle East with Israel and the Palestinians.  I think we have a chance.  And I think we have, now, a better chance with Bibi having won.
Yes, please.  Major.
Q    Mr. President, have you been briefed on the —
THE PRESIDENT:  Hold it.  Major.
Q    Do you believe (inaudible) law requires you to give Congress your tax returns?
THE PRESIDENT:  No, there is no law.  As you know, I got elected last time with this same issue.  And while I’m under audit, I won’t do it.  If I’m not under audit, I would do it.  I had no problem with it.  But while I’m under audit, I would not give my taxes.  There’s no law whatsoever.
Now, I will say this: I would love to give them, but I’m not going to do it while I’m under audit.  It’s very simple.  Remember, I got elected last time — the same exact issue, with same intensity, which wasn’t very much because, frankly, the people don’t care.
What I have done is approximately a 104-page summary — and, really, in great detail — of assets and values.  And nobody wants to go over that because it’s so good.  I built a great company, one of the best companies.  I have some of the greatest assets in the world.  I did a good job.  And now, frankly, I don’t care about them; I only care about the United States.
But I have no obligation to do that while I’m under audit.  And no lawyer would tell you to release your tax returns while you’re under audit.
Q    Do you want to see a binary choice for asylum seekers?
THE PRESIDENT:  I think that the whole asylum rules, laws, and regulations have been taken advantage of by people that are very bad people, in many cases.  These are the people running the cartels.  They’re gaming the system; they have been for years.  The only difference is our economy is now so strong that more people come up.
We have done a great job at the border with bad laws.  It’s very important that the Democrats in Congress change these loopholes.  If they don’t change them, we’re just going to be fighting.
Now, the other thing: We’ve built a lot of wall.  A lot of wall.  And it’s new wall.  You know, when we rip down an old wall and then replace it, it’s called a “new wall.”  And that’s what we’ve done.  A lot of wall is going up.  And every place we build the wall, it’s less and less.
But the power of the economy, it’s like a magnet; it’s bringing more people than we’ve seen in a long time.
Major.
Q    Mr. President, what is your current thinking on releasing as much of the Mueller Report as possible?  The Attorney General yesterday said (inaudible).  Do you agree with that?
THE PRESIDENT:  Well, the Mueller Report is interesting.  After $35 million, with 13 — increased to 18 — angry Democrats — people that truly hated Donald Trump, truly hated Trump — they found no collusion whatsoever with Russia.  But I could have told you that and so could most people.  And so could have everybody that voted for me, which was a lot of people.
So after wasting all of this money and all of this time with people that were haters — people that worked on the Hillary Clinton Foundation, people that were absolutely haters of Trump — they found no collusion.
What has been found during this period of time are the illegal acts of getting this whole phony investigation started.  And hopefully that’s where people are going now.  That’s where people are going.
And it’s very interesting.  It was an illegal investigation.  Major, it was an illegal investigation.  It was started illegally.  Everything about it was crooked — every single thing about it.  There were dirty cops.  These were bad people.  If you look at McCabe and Comey, and you look at Lisa and Peter Strzok, these were bad people.
And this was a — an attempted coup.  This was an attempted takedown of a President.  And we beat them.  We beat them.
So the Mueller Report, when they talk about obstruction, we fight back.  And do you know why we fight back?  Because I knew how illegal this whole thing was.  It was a scam.  And what I’m most interested in —
Q    (Inaudible.)
THE PRESIDENT:  Excuse me.  What I’m most interested in is getting started.
Hopefully, the Attorney General — he mentioned it yesterday — he’s doing a great job — getting started on going back to the origins of exactly where this all started, because this was an illegal witch hunt and everybody knew it, and they knew it too.  And they got caught.
And what they did was treason.  What they did was terrible.  What they did was against our Constitution and everything we stand for.
So hopefully that will happen.  There is a hunger for that to happen in this country like I have never seen before, including all of the millions of people that voted for me.
What they did was disgraceful.  There’s never been anything like it in the history of our country.
Q    Mr. President, Senate Republicans have concerns about Herman Cain.  Is his nomination safe?
THE PRESIDENT:  Well, I like Herman Cain.  And Herman will make that determination.  Herman is a wonderful man.  He’s been a supporter of mine for a long time.  He actually ran a very good campaign.  And that’s up to Herman.
Herman is — you know, he’s already sat on one the Fed boards, and he’s just somebody I like a lot.  As to how he’s doing in the process, that I don’t know.  You go through a process.  But Herman is a great guy, and I hope he does well.
Q    Mr. President, since Stephen Miller is already, basically, running your Homeland Security apparatus, have you ever thought about making Stephen Miller the DHS Secretary?
THE PRESIDENT:  No, Stephen is an excellent guy.  He’s a wonderful person.  People don’t know him.  He’s a wonderful — been with me from the beginning.  He’s a brilliant man.  And, frankly, there’s only one person that’s running it.  You know who that is?  It’s me.
Q    Mr. President, has anyone in this White House been briefed on the Mueller report, or have you seen it?
THE PRESIDENT:  I have not seen the Mueller report.  I have not read the Mueller report.  I won.  No collusion.  No obstruction.  I won.  Everybody knows I won.  And the pros knew it was illegally started.  The whole thing was illegal.
I have not read the Mueller report.  I haven’t seen the Mueller report.  As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care about the Mueller report.  I’ve been totally exonerated.  No collusion.  No obstruction.
And I’m off to dealing with China.  I’m off to dealing with North Korea.  I’m off to dealing with Venezuela and all the problems in this world.  I’m not worrying about something that never, ever should’ve taken place.
Q    Did you see what happened to Candace Owens yesterday?
THE PRESIDENT:  I did not see what happened.  I did not see what happened to Candace Owens.
Q    (Inaudible.)
THE PRESIDENT:  Excuse me.  I did not see what happened to Candace Owens.
Q    Congressman Ted Lieu played a little snip of audio and accused her of being a Hitler supporter, and then she slapped back at him.
THE PRESIDENT:  Well, I think that’s a terrible thing.  I think that’s a terrible thing that he would do that.  I find her to be a very — I know her.  I think she’s a fine person, a fine young woman, and I think that’s disgraceful that they could say that.
Q    The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Southern District has spoken to Hope Hicks, Keith Schiller, and others in their investigations.  Any response to that?
THE PRESIDENT:  I don’t hear you.
Q    The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Southern District has spoken to Keith Schiller, Hope Hicks —
THE PRESIDENT:  I have no idea.
Q    Mr. President, what are your thoughts on Kris Kobach for DHS?  Is he a leading contender for you?
THE PRESIDENT:  I respect him.  I like him.  And he’s somebody that, you know, I have a lot of regard for.
Q    SDNY, Mr. President — SDNY (inaudible) into your finances up in New York.  Are you concerned about that investigation?
THE PRESIDENT:  My finances are very clean.  I don’t think there is an investigation.  If you say it, I don’t know.  But I don’t think there is an investigation.  My finances are very clean.
Q    Mr. President, will Kevin be your nominee for DHS Secretary permanently?
THE PRESIDENT:  Well, I like him a lot.  He’s doing a very good job.  It could happen.  We’ll make a determination.
Q    Are you looking at others like Rick Perry or Matt Whitaker?
THE PRESIDENT:  We have others, but right now he’s the man.  He’s doing a great job.
Q    Kevin?
THE PRESIDENT:   Kevin.
Thank you.  See you in Texas.
